WAITOA ROAD BOARD.
Tmk usual monthly meeting of the Waitoa Road Board was held last Saturday, in the Nottingham Castle Hotel, Morrinsvillc. Present: Messrs W. 13.I 3 . Chepinoll (in tho chair), 11. Burnett, J. Horroll, and J. Turnbull.
Pos'itonkmi:nt oi>' Elections.—Perhaps the most important piece of business for !ho ratepayers to know was the resolution to delay the Road Board election nominations which were to have been received by the Returning Officer that day. As the valuation roll, which should have been supplied to the Board, by the Property-tax Commissioner in March, ult, has not been so supplied, and as the old valuation roll was burnt along with the Hhcunix Hotel, Morrinsville, where the Board had its office, there was 110 valuation roll or ratepayers roll 011 which to hold the election at the time required by the Road Boards Act, 1882, conseqently the Board resolved to make application to the Governor to extend the time for holding the election until such time as the Board shall have received the valuation roll from the Property-tax Commissioner. In consequence of the resolution, the Returning Officer was instructed not to receive nominations of candidates. Tundeus. —Tha following tendors were received for the road forming between Murphy's lauding and Kershaw's:—Laybourn and .Farmer, £51 (is ; E. Voysey, £511: J. Shine, £58 15s; O. McCabe, £08 ; C. Thaxter, ±)42, (accepted); Win. Thomson. £18 I'Js. Payments.—Accounts amounting to £s*l Is 2d were passed for payment, including £113s Id claimed by the Audit Office for auditing the Boards accounts legal opinion being to tho effect that the Bjard was liable.
