TE AWAMUTU SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
Thic annual meeting to elect a school committee was hold in the school 011 Tuesday evening. Ill' J. L. Mandeno, Chairman of the outgoing committee, was voted to the chair. After reading the annual report the committee was elacted. Four of the outgoing committee were re-elected, viz., Messrs Mandeno, Roche, Teasdalo and Andrew. The new members are Rev. R. G. Bnler and Messrs Ahier and Cox. At tho close of the annual meeting tho committee met, and re-elected Mr J. L. Mandeno as chairman. The report stated that the inspector's reports of the examinations held during this term had been uniformly favourable. There had been 110 change in the personnel of the teaching staff, save the advancement of Miss Oi'ookes to the position of assistant teacher. There was a credit balance of £4 Is ">d remaining in tho school fund. At the same time the committee had been instrumental in improving the school property to a very considerable extent by procuring the expenditure of a grant of .£32 on the teacher's dwelling, which needed roofing with iron, and sundry repairs, which have been effected ; also in augmenting tho water supply. Much valuable tune had been lost during the year by tho diptheria epidemic, which caused the committee to close the school for six or seven weeks. The committee's accounts had been duly audited, and found correct by the Government Auditor. Tho report concluded by stating that the number of scholars attending the school still maintained last years''average.
