WAIKATO DISTRICT HOSPITAL AND CHARITABLE AID BOARD.
The usual monthly meeting of tho Waikato District Hospital and Charitable Aid Board was held in the Borough Council Chambers, Hamilton at 11.30 a.m. yesterday. There were present Messrs Primrose (chairman), .Sandes, Seddon, Brunskili and Hunter. The minutes of the last mo sting were confirmed and the outward correspondence read and adopted. Williams' Childhkn*. — A letter was read from the Thames Hospital Board, with reference to the claim of iIGS ss, due by this Board for tho maintenance of Williams' children, agreeing to remit, one-third of the claim on condition that it be paid forthwith.—The Chairman stated the Financial Committee had sent a cheque to the amount of iI-15 10s.
1 iKSTiTiTB Claim at Tk Aroiia.—Sergeant Kmerson, of Te Aroha, wrote, applying for admission into the Hospital of James Hobbs, who was sick and destitute, or, if the Hospital was full, for relief. The Secretary had replied that the Hospital was full, but that relief to the extent of 5s per week would be granted till tho meeting of the Board.
Vot.u.vi'AiiY Donation'.—Mr John Sunpson, of Matamata, through Mi C. Tuck, forwarded £2 Is, his commission on dog fees collected in tho Matamata Riding of the Piako County, as a voluntary donation to the funds of the Hospital.—A unanimous rote of thanks was accorded to Mr Simpson for his generous contribution. Sir von Sturmer here took his seat. O'Do.nouiiuk's Case. —Mr Hay forwarded a copy of a telegram from the bailiff in possession of O'Donoghne's property, notifying that the Official Assignee claimed the property. —The Chairman s.iid ho supposed tho Board would now have to tako its chance, like the other creditors. EllioU, £2 17s fid. Cu.iVi:i..--Tho Secretary was instructed to call for tenders for gravelling the yard at the hospital and the entrance to tho hospital from the Ohaupo road. Watku Si'im'i.y.—The Chairman stated that tho windmill at the Hospital did not pump the water as required, and every month a man had to bo hired to pump water up by hand. There was plenty of water in the well, and ho thought that if a large fly wheel was put on the present hand pump, a man could easily do all the pumping necessary, and the windmill might be taken down and sold. With tho large expanse of roof, it would also be easy to fill a large cistern if one was built. A committee consisting of Messrs Primrose, Seddon, Kidler, von .Sturmer and Sandes was appointed to present a report with reference to the water supply at the next meeting of tho Board.
Bv-i.aws.—ln accordance with notice given, Mr Sandes moved that a committee be appointed to consist of tho House Committee and Messrs von Stunner and Sandes fi.r the purpose of revising the present bylaws for the management of tho Waikato District Hospital, submitting same to th« Hoard at the next meeting. — Seconded by Mr von Stunner and carried.
