THE WAIPA FERRY.

S lll% —I observed from the report of last, meeting of the Raglan County Council tint Government had guaranteed the Council the sum of £50, towards establishin? a ferry on the Waipa at Nffimiawalna. a work urgently required by a large body of settlers, and as it has been estimated that tho ferry can bo established for about £100, I, as one of tho numerous parties interested, have been anxiously awaiting to see tenders called for the works. .1 kave also been enquiring how it is tenders havo not been invited long ere this, and was informed that the Council have no funds at thoir disposal for the work. As tho whole of the rates raised in the Whangape Hiding is being spent at its northern end, and rumour with her busy tongue says all in making a road through a swamp (or ra'.her ditohes) which loads nowhere, and is not likely to bo used for many years,but it drains at tho ratepayers' pspensp a oortain gentleman's property. J. hopo what tumour Kays is not. truo, and that we may soon see a ferry established on the Waipa |at Ngaruawahia for the accommodation ofa rapidly increasing body of Bottlers.—l am, yours etc., Ol«BBYE{t,
