|HY TELEUItAI'U—OWN COKUESI'ON'DENT. | Auckland, List Night. Tmc Wainui has arrived from Fiji. A fire at Levuka destroyed property valued at £40,000, including tlio Now Zealand Loan ami Mercantile Agency Company's, Cave's, Morgan's, Suliiinon's, Mortgage and Agency Company's, aud Bank of New Zealand. The calamity proved a heavy one to the various insurance offices as tha following list shows : —Bank nf New Zealand, total £2,500, insured in Now Zealand office, and £1,500 re-insured in Suuth British ; Mortgage Agency Company, office and furniture in-uied in New Zealand fur £180, loss about £100; D. J. Solomon in Transatlantic Company, building for £200, goods, £150 ; Morgan and Co. insured for £4,650, viz., £1,000 in South British, £750 in Equitable, £1,000 in Hamburg Magdeburg, £2,100 in Transatlantic ; Cave's and Co., £4,500, in Hamburg Magdeburg £1,600, £1,000 in South British and a like sum in Transatlantic, £500 in Imperial, and £400, Hanseatic. The Now Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company was uninsured and the damage was trifling; the safe and furniture were removed. Garrick's library was insured in the New Zealand for £150 ; Hennings, £200 on building and £50 on olfice and furniture in New Zealiind. Potter and Munro, insured in the New Zealand, sustained only partial damage.
