(BV TELKUKAPH.—OWN COKRKSPONUKNT.) Auckland, Friday. Tjie Minister of Mines has gazetted the amended conditions of the £10,000 reward offered for the discoverer of new gold fields. The maximun sum given in each Island will bo £5000. The newly-discovered goldfield must be situated not less than forty miles from any existing workings, and no reward will be sayable till 50,000 ounces of gold have been produced. The Board of Education to-day decided to advertise for applications for the position of head master of the Cambridge school, vice Mr Stewart, resigned. In the case, Fleming v. Frater, claim £22 10s, m respect of share transactions in the Saxon Goldmining Company, and opened at the K.M. Court yesterday, Dr. Giles reserved judgment to-day, a motion for non-suit having been raised by Mr Cooper. One hundred and ten acres of land in the parish of Opahoke, mostly good bush land, was sold to-day for 27s per acre by Messrs Vaile and Douglas. Twenty-one farms of from 35 acres to Sli acres in extent at Mahurangi, in tho estate uf tho late Mr I). Nathan, were also offered, but there were apparently few buyers. The Compensation Court to-day awarded £300 damages to Mr S. S. Smith in his claim against the Minister of Public Works for £SOO for damage to hi* land at Helensvill., through a portion being taken for tho railway.
