THE GOVERNOR'S RECEPTION.
(BY TBLKGRAI'H.— OWN COItKESPONDENT.) Auckland, Friday. A MEKTiNa of the Reception Committee was held this afternoon to consider arrangements connected with the Governor's reception. Mr Hobbs, M.H.R., telegraphed to the Premier to-day as follows ;_'• Feeling in Auckland very sore at refusal to have full volunteer display on the occasion of the landing of Lord Ouslow. Colonel Shepherd is obstinate and the Government aro blamed for his action in tho matter." The Star to-night says if ehoice must bo made by tho volunteers between discharging thoir duties as citizens and obedience to an arbitrary order, there should be no hesitation in determining that. The former, and not the latter, should have the biggest claim upon them, and they can make their opinions felt very effectually by causing the encampment and liot the reception to result in a fiasco.
