RAILWAY RETURNS.
The railway traffic returns for the four weeks ended 2nd March last, and for the corresponding period in 1888 give the following results for the Auckland section: — Passengers, 1889, 23,802; 1888, 28,897. Season tickets, 121 and I(>s. Parcels, etc.. 3,67(5 and 3.550. Live stock, 15,872 and 8,174 (sheep increased from 7,121 to 15,120.) Goods, 8,292 tons and 8,988 tons. Revenue, £7,5. r )9 19s Gd and £8,239. The gross revenue of the Department, for the year to date, was, respectively, £008,099 and £911,074, or a decrease of £2,375. The expenditure was £591,247 and £033,349, or a saving of £42,202.
