Mining Matxehs.—Owing to tho protracted spell of dry weather, work genially is retarded. Ten men, chiefly labourers, wore paid olf last week 011 account of the weather, by the Te Aroha Gold and Silver Mining Company. One or two now claims have been pegged out on the hill lately, and from what 1 am told have rich prospects. The new lira Company, under tho supervision of Mr I'. Ferguson, are shaping towards a start, having, it id said, given Mr Howlund, hush contractor, an order for from .€."00 to i.'lOO worth of timber for sleepers, slabs, Sc. During the next few weeks wo shall (weather permitting), see milling matters here on a, somewhat more definite and satisfactory basis to all hands than they have been lately. Mr Jamieson, (managing director of the Te Aroha Gold an-1 Silver Mining Company), and Mr McCosh Clark are here watching the current of events.
