(BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.) Auckland, Monday. Sugar is going up in price, and the local Company has advanced the prices of its sugars to 10s per ton from to-day. Point Curtis Hotel at Kaipara was destroyed by fire on Saturday morning. IS'o further particulars are to hand. John Curtis was owner of the hotel. J. A. Clarke was arrested on a warrant to-day for failing to provide support for hit, illegitimate child, and was remanded to Te Aroha, where the case will be heard next Wednesday. Last Saturday a fire occurred at Win. Woodward's farm, East Tamaki, and destroyed six stacks oaten sheaves, containing about sixty tons, valued at something like £1.80, This wi.s the produce of twentyacres. In addition two largo stacks of straw, valued at £20, were also destroyed. A won.an named .Mary Ann Wilson was stabbed while asleep in one of the suburbs. She was accompanied by a man named Paget., who had been living with her, but he declares he knows nothing of the occurrence.
