Mauku Races. Ahoit -*j0 people patronised the Matiku races ini Tuesday List. I here wore woven events, and each race was well contested. The winner of the Hurdles was Hopeful Kate, Toatoi being second, Brian O'ljynn third. The Maiden Plate was a great race, nine horses started, I humel tlie favourite winning. Brian Born second, Grace Darling third. The Gup was won by ()cto,)u*. Brian (VLynn second. Banter third. Flying Stakes, Black Joe first, Toatoa second. The Hack Race was won by Damsel. In the Pony Raco a great " pot" was upsei on \ enetia, the Auckland pony, which was heavily backed to win, ami got defeated by the Rangiriri pony, Grace Darling. Major Harris acted as judge. The Auckland visitors who went up did not reach town till six o'clock next morning, the railway engino having run off at Pukekohe.
