CHINESE QUESTION.
(BY TELKfiKAPH.— PUJCSS ASSOCIATION.) Wellington', Wednesday. THE Evening Post says :—" A few months ago we mention ed that the Chinese in Wei lington had received a communication from the Emperor enjoining them not to enter any business arrangements which would tend to retard their speedy return to the Flowery Land should a proclamation to "com:) back " be issued as the result of the difference of opinion which at present exists between the Australian colonies and the Government at Pekin. We now learn that another official document has just heen received by the Celestials of this district, impressing upon l.liein the necessity of bearing in mind the injunction in the previous communication, and statin? that it is quite possible they will be called upon to either return to the laud of their birth or remain where they are ai:d cease to be regarded as Chinese subjeots."
