At the Timaiu Milling Company's annual meeting, the report .shows a profit for four months on the Working Account of £2,050, but bad debts, chiefly in Aucklaud, and losses on wheat have caused a Profit and Loss Debit of £1,336. No dividend was declared. Mr J. Bruce, founder of the mill, moved for an investigation, but met with no support,and the retiring directors were re-elected unopposed. DUNE DIN, Monday. At the City Court, Henry White was charged with carrying on an illegal game in betting on totalisator odds with a ten pound limit. Mr Solomon for the defence, contended there was no offence disclosed. Judgment was reserved. GISBORNE, Monday. The Supreme Court sessions were opened this morning before Mr Justice Richmond, who remarked, in his address to the Grand Jury, that of six cases all but one concerned Maori prisoners, and the Maoris in live were instrumental in bringing the prisoners to justice. A true Bill was found against llenare to Peikeia for horse.stealing, ar.d he was found guilty and sentenced to 12 months. True Bills were found against Henare Koliure, sodomy, Tame Taraha, horse stealing and forgery, and W. J. Mosswa, sheepstealing. Haera te Pure will be brought up to-morrow, charged with the murder of the Pook family at Waipiro. There are 34 witnesses for the prosecu. tiou.
