FURTHER REDUCTION IN RAILWAY FREIGHTS.

We have received the following telegram from Mr Hudson, the District Traffic Manager, which conveys the satisfactory intelligence that the rates on Class E goods, including agricultural produce such as grain, &c, an J also the milk rate, have been reduced for long distances. This will be of considerable importance to Waikato settlers, to whom the concession is specially applicable : — " The classified rate for Class E (which includes agricultural produce) for distances over seventy miles has been reduced as from March 25th. The charge for one hundred miles is now 12j 10d per ton. It will bells7d for seventy miles, and for each mile over 70 miles the charge will be one half-penny per ton per mile. The Gazette also notifies a reduction in the milk rato after 30 miles of per gallon per additional mile."
