CAMBRIDGE ATHLETIC SPORTS.
At tho Cambridge Athletic Sports held yesterday, the attendance was good, fully 500 people being present. The following is the result of the various events :— Boys' Race, under 1(5. — McKernan (scraluh), 1; Dodd (4 yards), 2; Giles (2 yards), 3. Maidkn Flat Rack.—Harris, 1; T. Davies, 2 ; E. Walker, 3. High Jump.—Julian and McNeish tied at sft. 9in., and divided the stakes. The jumping was gooi, and broke the record for the province. Half Mile. —J. Warren (30yds.), 1; Turner (15yds.), 2; Bowen (15yds.), 3 Good finish. Boys' unpf.r 12.— Gemmill (25yds.), 1; Anderson (10yds.), 2; Meredith (Byds.), 3. Vaulting: with Pole.— Julian (Sft. llin), 1; D. Hannon (Sft. Bin.), 2; Ringa, a native (Bft. 7in.), 3. Julian then tried one jump at 9ft. 4in., which he cleared first try. Old Men's Rack.—Geo. Rose (Gyds.), 1 ; Wright (scratch), 2 ; Dillon (12yds.), 3. Thkkk Standing Jumps.—T. Seininens, (31ft. 2in.), 1; McNeish, (30ft. 10in.), 2. HfItDLU Rack, 200 yds.— J. Warren, (7 yards), 1 ; Arnold, (25 yards), 2; D. Craig, (scratch), 3. One Mile Handicap.—A. McFarlane, (scratch), 1 ; Turner, (25 yards), 2; Gailey, (75 yds.), 3. Won easily. Walking Match, 2 miles.— Swayne, 1; G. McCann, 2; J. McCann, 3. This was the order of passing the post, but we do not know if the prize was awarded. Many thought Swayne ran. One Hundred Yards.—E. Walker (0 yards), 1; A. McKinnon (scr.), 3. Camish»dge Cup.—First stage, 120 yards, W. Box (6yds.), 1 ; Tickelpenny (10yds.), 2 ; D. Craie (lyd.), 3. Second stage, 250 yards: McKinnon (scr,), 1 ; Box (10yds.), 2 ;Tickelpenny (18yds.), 3. Final stage, 440 yards: Box (18 yds.), 1; Tickelpenny (28yds.), 2; McKinnon (scr.), 3. Box thus won, scoring 8 points, Tickelpenny socond, 5 points, and McKinnon, third, 4 points.
