PATERANGI ANNUAL PICNIC
The annual picnic was held in the school grounds on Thursday last, and was a most enjoyable affair, windiug up with a dance in the evening, when a good number of young people enjoyed themselves till past midnight. The hospitality of the good people of Paterangi is proverbial, and visitors—of whom there was a good numberwere most cordially welcomed. The ladies of Paterangi must be all either burn cooks or have enjoyed exceptional facilities for instruction, if one is to judge from the many excellent dishes provide*!. After lunch games wero indulged in, the youngsters running races, and otherwise amusing themselves till near sunset, when tea was served. After which all who did not stay for the dance went home. These social gatherings are looked forward to with great expectation by young and old, as many friends meet then who perhaps do not meet at any other time during the year. It is a red letter day for the children, something to look forward to with pleasurable anticipation, and to look back upon with satisfaction.
