NEWCASTLE ROAD BOARD
The ordinary meeting of the Newcastle Road Board was held on Thursday, 14th March, 1889, at the office of the Board Present:—Messrs Corboy (chairman) Corbett, and Bycroft. Tho minutes of the last meeting we,re read and confirmed. Tho following letters wore read, viz. : From Thomas Kempthorne. asking permission to erect a gate on a road. From Riyenhani, asking for works on roads in lien of paying ratos. From Mr Hay, enclosing account for £27. From Thomas Osier, re drain through his paddock. Lettors outward, To the Clork to .'tho Waipa County Council, re appointment of ranger. To controller and Auditor General, re cost of audit. To J. Sperry, Property Tax Commissioner, acknowledging receipt of statement of values for the district. Re Osier's Drain, it was resolved that the chairman be authorised to havo fascines placed in the drain and covered in. Ro J. Rayenham's Application. Mr Bycroft was instructed to inform him that tho road he refers to is a County Road. Resolved that tho chairman be authorised to have some repairs done to Shepherd's road, the balance of last contract. Resolved that tho Clerk write to Mr Hay, instructing hiin to demand the residue of the purchase money, amounting to £50, duo by the executors of the late W. Johns,| for Coutt's and Tower's land, sold for rates, and bought bv him in 1879, being Sections 129 and 144 Horotui. The Waikato Steam Navigation Company's account was referred to Mr Crawford to certify to. It was resolved that the Chairman be authorised to measure Magner's work of road forming and issue cheques for same. A few small accounts were passed for payment, for which cheques were issued when the Board rose.
