A TRADESMEN'S CUP.

♦ TO THIS EDITOR. Sin, —Will you allow mo space enough in your paper to thank "Racehorse" for his letter in last Saturday's issue. It does one good to see that there are some outside of Hamilton trying to help the South Auckland Club along, but really, Mr Editor, what a funny creature " Racehorse " must be, or perhaps the poor old hack has never trained on this track, otherwise he would know that it is " fat easier for a camel to go through the eye ot a needle " than for him to draw out anything in the shape of a cup from our worthy tradespeople. I am so sorry for him, but honestly, I do not think he would get more than a little chaff from the lot put together, not even oats. Their motto is, "take but not give," (this is quite proper, of course). However, he might perhaps be more successful with our worthy publicans; they are a more gene-rous-hearted lot, and have more spirit in them (re. p., as a rule), and might like to follow the example of one worthy tradesman, who, no doubt in an extra generous mood, and wishing to have his name handed down to posterity, gave a 20 guinea cup to be run for. They don't cost much, (judging from that one), so there may be some chance of "Racehorse" being gratified.— Jqkbh. Hamilton, Mavch sth,
