SPORTING.
TO THE KDITOIt. Sin, —As a lover of good sport, I, have watched with much interest the steady growth of the South Auckland Kucing Club, and I have also noticed that whereas the very men who benefit so much from the largo amount of outside money brought into and spent in Hamilton should be the first to help it along, they are (or seem to be) the last, i.e. the storekeepers. L think, the least they should do would be to give a good cup to be run for each year, a small thing amongst so many, but a thing that would bring a larger number of horses, and thereby leavo a good amount more money in the place, but they say, "a prophet has no honour in his own county," and so it seems with the South Auckland Racing Club and the people of Hamilton. Pardon my taking up so much space in your valuable paper, but my desire is to see a club that promises to become the only club in the Waikato get a fair share of support from those who benefit the most must be my excuse, —yours truly, IUcKHOIWIv. Cambridge, March Ist., 1S8I).
