IjKfohf, the Timcs-Parndl Commission to-day, Pigott admitted that ho had applied to Mr b'orster, Jrisli Secretary in 1881, for i'looo for loy.il services rendered to the Government: tliat h<. , received £170 as charity on the plea that lie was going to America, and that Mr Forster refused to give him £1200 to enable him to visit Australia. Pigott thereupon quarrelled with Mr Forster, and threatened to betray him. Pigott denied forging the letters published by the Times. The revelations brought out in his cross-examination have caused a, great sensation in London. It is believed that Pigott will be arrested for perjury. LONDON, February 23. Pigott did not appear in Court to-day, and it was ascertained he had been missing from the hotel where lie had been slaying since 11 o'clock last night. A warrant was issued fur his arrest. Sir Charles Russell states that on Saturday Pigott in the presence of Messrs Libouchcre and CI. A. Sala signed a written confession that he forged the letter himself. Mr Shannon, one of the solicitors employed by the Times, produced a letter written by Pigott stating the confession was untrue. In the letter Pigott stated he got the first batch of letters from Pat Casey and believed them genuine. Pigott wrote the signatures to two of the second batch of Parnell letters and one of Davitt's and one of O'Kelly's. lie asserts none of Egan's were forged.
