Lesseps as chairman, is being formed. Several gales have occurred on the English coast. Parnell has commenced an action against the Times in Dublin. £17,000 has been subscribed to defend the Bishop of Lincoln against the charge, of ritualism. A new Japanese constitution is proclaimed.
