Works Report.—The following report was received from the Foreman of Works : — Hamilton, Waikato, lltli February, 188' J. AH water-tables have been attended to in the borough. Eight lamps have been taken down and placed into store according to instructions. The well at the pound has been cleaned out, and the pump put into working order. Repairs and improvements to the Hamilton East baths have been carried out. The gatC3 leading to the Lake reserve have been secured so that they cannot be lifted off the hinges. No. 1 bridge has been put into a thorough state of repairs. The wooden shoot at the end of Cook street drain has been put into good working order. Gravel has been spread round Mrs Gwvnne's Hotel according to instructions. Repairs and improvements made to the West Hamilton baths. The trees overhanging the pathway in Victoria-street, the proparty of Mr Bullock-Webster have been cut according to instructions. Sundry small j ibs have b; j en carried out in the borough too numerous to specify. The deepening and cleaning out the drains running through Mr Vincent's property has been commenced to-day. This drain will have to be cleaned out to the brick culvert in Clarance-street, a distance of about 17 chains.—The following works are most necessary to he carried out at the present time. Ali public drains in the borough to be cleaned out. The drain that is cut to take off the water from the saleyards is constantly falling in and stopping the passage of the water, in consequence of the sandy nature of the ground. It lias been cleaned out several times, but it stands no length of time. The watertables in Victoria-street are urgently required to be cleaned out. The silt is almost to a level with the pathway. At 12 o'clock oil Sunday night I had to get out of my bed to attend to the gratings in Victoria-street, as I was in dread of some damage being done in consequence of the heavy rains before morning. Likewise, the water-tables in Hood-street and Collingwood-street require cleaning out, and that portion of Victoria-street opposite Mr Harwood's, for the water rushes down the centre of the road, there being no water-tables, and seveial other streets in tho borough. I also '.vish to bring to your notice that a few short pieces of planking are required for the traffic bridge, it in some places being very much worn down. I also further wish to bring to your notice that the gully box on He.'iphy Terrace facing Bridge-street is rotten, and is required to be placed by a new one.—The report was received and adopted, and the council authorised pipes to be laid in the drain leading from the salevards.
