PRESBYTERIAN PICNIC.
The annual picnic to the children attending, the Hamilton Presbyterian Sabbath School was held on Tuesday last, the 22nd inst., in one of Capt. Steele's paddocks ; a more beautiful place could not have been chosen, there being a large plantation of blue-gum and other trees on the crown of the hill, with a nice green paddock sloping down from it. The children mustered about 120, assembling at the Church at 10 o'clock, and comfortably seated in largo waggons and traps (which several kind friends lent for the purpose), were conveyed on to the ground without loss of time, where ample provision had been made for them by their teachers and friends. After an hour's play the children were regaled with an abundant supply of sandwiches, buns, cakes, etc., washed down with tea and other beverages. The children, together with their teachers, joined heartily in the various games, eot up tor their amusement, and, on some of the large trees, several swings had been erected, which afforded great fun and pleasure to the little folk. Towards evening a number of children of larger growth put in an appearance and joined in the various amusements. At 5 o'clock the children wero again called together to present Miss Campbell (one of their oldest teachers), who is itboi}t to leave Hamilton, with asilver sugar bason, as a token of the respect and esteem in which she was, and is held by them. The presentation was closed by singing tho hymn, "Farewell, Faithful Friend." The children were then again treated to another supply of good things ; and the wants of the grown-up peoplo attended to also. Three hearty cheers were given for Captain Steele, who not oply lent his pacjdopk, with his usual good nature, worked hard through, out the day, himself, to make everyone as comfortable as possible. Three cheers were also given for tho ladies and friends who supplied the provisions. The waggons were then again called into requisition, and tho children conveyed safely back to the Church, everyone being thoroughly satisfied with the day's outing.
