A large portion of Casticmaioe lias been wrecked, and the damage has been roughly estimated at £200,000, and that district is now a picture of desolation, The loss in the Guildford agricultural and mining district, 81 miles north-west of Melbourne, amounts to fully £150,000. Townhill, in Wimmera, has also suffered severely. It is still raining heavily. Adelaide, Thursday. Sixty mile of railway line in course of construction to connect with the Broken Hill mines, have been extensively damaged by the floods. Great damage has also been done to the overland telegraph line. January 4. During the floods in the Castlemaine district, many houses were washed away, and the occupants, who had a narrow escape for their lives, liad to take refuge in trees. Fitzgerald's brewery, in Winter's Flat, was flaoded, and it is estimated that the damage will amount to £10,000. TheCampaspe River rose twenty-three feet, but is now falling.
