(UY TELKCK.U'IL — I'HKSS ASSOCIATION.) OHRISTCHURCtf, Friday. The Premier told a deputation of unemployed he would consider if anything further can be done to provide work and land for settlement. A deputation uf fanners of the Cooperative Association asked for alterations in the railway tariff. The Premier aaid the Government declined to make any alterations except to reduce the fine for overweight. To a deputation of warehousemen Sir H. A. Atkinson stated Mr Sl.annon'.s appointment as Customs expert was only temporary. INVKRCARGILL, Friday. Most encouraging reports are to hand of the tin discoveries at Stewart Island. Professor Black is still at the island engaged in an investigation.
