Yesterday.— (Before Captain Jackson, R.M.)

Civil Cases.—There were only four civil casos heard, all being undefended Cruelty to Animals.—Thomas Vickers, of Cambridge West, was charged with cruelly beating a horse on November 10th, at Cambridge West. The prosecution was conducted by Constable Brennan. and accused was defended by Mr Dyer. Numerous witnesses were examined, and the case occupied the greater portion of the day. John Hall deposed to seeing the defendant beating the horse very cruelly, and informed the police. Fined hi and costs, £3 10s.
