Tliecnmiiiitteßliave experienced much difficulty and anxiety mvinjf to tlie action, witliont notice by tlic General Government of throwing the ehi-rge of sick and destitute natives upon tliialso.ird; forcing them «t short notice to provide accommodation and bedding for fever cases, and this anxiety ha:, been further aggravated by the action of the residents in Hamilton .East and West, in protesting against the Hoard to temuorarily occupy as a hospital tor the sick natives any buildings within the precincts of the Borough ; and objections being raised against tho occupation by the Board of a building which has been placed at the disposal of the committee, and had by their order been put in fit repair to receive the native patients. The committee were at a loss to know how to act in the face of the Government, compelling the Board to take charge of sick natives and the residents refusing to allow the Board to make use of any exist ins; building, and threatening to boycott the only one who offered tho use of a house for the purpose.
