Rain is much needed throughout the colony. Fears are entertained for the crops uulessa plentiful rain supply comes shortly. Svdnev, December 4. Water is fast disappearing in the back country. The creeks are still dry, and many cattle and sheep still dying about Wilcaucia. The , weather to-day has been very fine throughout Australia, no ram having fallen in Victoria, South Australia, or New South Wales. The Legislative Assembly has rejected the Bill to abolish Distress for Rent. Mklhohrne, December 5. The iron moulders' strike has been brought to a satisfactory termination. Adelaide, December 5. The Legislative Assembly has rejected the Bill to abolish imprisonment for debt. Brisaaxe, December 5. News from German Now Guinea reports that two Prussians had a quarrel which resulted in one shooting the other dead, and then committing suicide. Perth (W.A.), December 4. A donkey engine on board the steamer Albany, at Hiimlin, burst to-day, killing two men ou the spot, and fatally injuring a third, and scalding two others, one seriously.
