BOROUGH OF HAMILTON.
Special Meetings. A special meeting of tho Hamilton Borough Council was held at the Council Chambers on Tuesday evening. Present: His Worship the Mayor (Mr Isaac Coates), Crs. Knox, Salmon, Wood, Bell, von Stunner and Jones. Tho only business before the meeting was to confirm the resolution passed at a previous meeting of the Council with reference to the adoption of clauses 22 to 57 of the rating Act. —Cr. Jones moved that resolution No. 1, of the 23rd of October last, resolving by special order to adopt clauses 22 to 51, inclusive, of the Bating Act, ISS2, and its amendments fur the purposes of the Borough of Hamilton be now confirmed.—Seconded by Cr. Knox and carried. | This concluded tho business, The special meeting of the Hamilton Borough Council to elect a representative to act upon the Waikato Hospital and Charitable Aid Board was held in the Council Chambers yesterday. Present: His Worship the Mayor (Mr Isaac Coates), Crs. Knox, Bell, Salmon and von Stunner. In opening tho proceedings, the Mayor said the first business of the meeting was the appointment of a gentleman to represent the Borough of Hamilton upon the Waikato Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, and that he had much pleasure in proposing Cr. von Sturmer for that position, as he felt sure the interests of the Borough would be considered in the hands of this gentleman. This was seconded by Cr. Bell, who, in dung so, said that he considered it was of great importance that a member of this Board should be selected from the Council, as from this position he would be better acquainted with the interests and necessities of the Borough. The resolution upon being put was carried unanimously. Cr. Knox then rose and said that he felt it was due to the Council that ho should move a most cordial vote of thanks to Mr W. A. Graham for his past services as representative of the Borough for the preceding term. Seconded by Cr. von Sturmer and carried unanimously. Or. von Sturmer then thanked the Council for tiie confidence thay had reposed in him in electing him to represent them on the Waikato Hospital 'Board, and he trusted that they would find that whilst studying the strictest economy he would never turn a deaf ear to the claims of suffering humanity. The Council then rose.
