ALEXANDRA.

The Weather.—The weather has been extraordinary and unpleasant here during the last few days, instead of the warm, sunny days that one naturally expects at this season of the year, wo have had coid, blustering winds, which culminated on Saturday afternoon with u heavy hailstorm, the high ground within a mile or two of the township being white with hailstones. There was a frost at night, which has done a great deal of damage to the gardens, cutting off the potatoes and all the pumpkins, marrows, cucumbers, etc. Whether it will effect any damage to the fruit trees remains to be seen.

Native Land Court. — The Native Land Court, now sitting at Otorohanga, will, after the adjournment for the Christmas holidays, be re-opened at ICawhia, when the blocks of land in that vicinity will be put through the Court.

Price of Wool.—A great many of our wool-growers are greatly disappointed at the result of the late sales. The rise in wool, which has been so much spoken about and joyfully anticipated, did not come off, the prices being about the same or something leas than last year's sales. It is thought that it is not only the millers who know how to keep down prices when the crop comes.

An Omission.—Quite inadvertently I omitted the name wf Mr W. N. Chappell, as one entitled to the credit of the success of the entertainment lately given here.

Racing, Etc.—Our racing committee held a meeting at the Alexandra Hotel on Saturday evening last, and drew out a programme of sports for Boxing-Day. It is to he hoped that those who intend to subscribe will put their namesdown at once, as by so doing they would greatly facilitate the labours of the committee, and the prospect of a good day's sport.
