HAMILTON DOMAIN BOARD.
The ordinary monthly moeting of the Hamilton Domain Board was held in the Borough Council Chambers on Tuesday evening. There were present:—Messrs I. Coates (chairman), Knox, Salmon, Wood, Bell, von Stunner, and -Tones. Sydney Square.— I The Chairman reported that he ami Mr von Stunner, in company with representatives of the Hamilton Cricket Club had visited Sydney Square, and they had come to the conclusion that it would be best to shift the wicket gate near the Oddfellows Hall. This he stated the Cricket Club would get done as soon as they had sufficient funds. With reference to the grass the Chairman stated that he had offered it to the Cricket Club if they cleared it otf. If they did not clear it off at once, the Chairman was to offer it for sale. Spouts.—Mr George Edgecwmbe, Hon. Sec. to the Hamilton Sports Committee, applied for permission to use Sydney Square for the foot sports on December 20th (Boxing Day.)—Mr Knox moved that the permission applied for be granted, and that a charge of £5 be made for the use of the grjund, such sum to be spent on improvements on the Square.—Seconded by Mr Jones and carried. Lease.—On the application of Mr B. Roach, it was decided to offer Lot 249, domain lands. East, for lease at an upset price of 5s per annum per acre. Suspension op the Ranger.—Mr T. Qualtrough applied for a reduction of the charge of Is 6d per head made by the ranger for the cattle which he had in Bradley's paddock for one night. He stated that on dark nights he had been in the habit of putting cattle in at the rate of 3d per head, and he did not know that the price had . been raised, or he would not have put the cattle into the paddock.—Mr Knox moved that the ranger be suspended for the time being until the charges contained in Mr Qualtrough's letter be enquired into. —Seconded by the chairman and carried.—Mr Knox moved that the chairmau and Messrs Jones and von Stunner and the mover be appointed a committee to investigate the charges contained in Mr Qualtrough's letter, and request that Messrs Qualtrough and Lee 3 attend a committee meeting to be held next Tuesday. —Seconded by Mr Bell and carried.—W. Peacock was appointed ranger pro tem. Rents.—The committee appointed to enquire into Mrs Wall's letter reported that the Board have already allowed a rebate of 25 per cent, off the rents, and they would recommend that no further reduction be made. The report was received and adopted. Furze.—lt was resolved that tenders be called for clearing and grubbing up furze on Lots. 8, 9 and 10, Domain Land West, and half the road adjoining Mr .Tolly's property, and that the clerk notify Mr Jolly to clear and grub up the furze on the other half of the road. Park Reserve. —The Chairman was authorised to employ W. Di.xon to stake the trees in the Park Reserve. Payments.—The following accounts wero authorised for payment: —W. Peacock, £1 8s ; C. McKenzie, £1 2s (id ; Winter, 5s ; The Waikato Times, 12s ; Parr, 18s. Bradley's Paddock.—The Chairman, in accordance with notice given, moved that Lots. 19 and 20, Domain Lands West, containing about 24 acres, known as Bradley's paddock, be let by public auction for grazing purposes for, say, one year, at an upset price of 5s per acre per annum. —Secondod by Mr Von Sturmer.—Mr Salmon moved, as an amendment, that the paddocks 19 and 20 be left open on and after the Ist December for grazing purposes, at a charge of Is 6d per head for horses, and Is for cattle, per week. — Seconded by Mr Bell.—The Chairman, with the consent of the Board, withdrew the original motion, and the amendment was put and carried. Arheaks.—The Clerk reported that H. Kelly had not complied with the fencing clauses in his lease, and that he was now in arrears for two half-year's rent, and that he was impounding his neighbours' cattle off the unfenced land. —It was resolved that the conditions of the lease not having been carried out, the Board re-enter npou the land leased by H. Kelly. The Board then adjourned to 4 p.m. on Tuesday next, the 4th prox.
