COLONIAL GOVERNORS.
[By Electric Tklkuraph.—Copyright. 1 London, November 18. The Economist says that on reflection Queensland will not risk the danger of separation for the sake of the Irish. Lord Carnarvon says Sir T. Mcllwraith's expressed objections to Sir H. A. Bluke are in ill-considered language. It would be impossible to have the name of the new Governor submitted without abandoning the rights now belonging to the Crown. The submission of the name to the colony really means the appointment of a Governor by party majority. It is Lord Knutsford's duty to appoint the best men possible. November 20. In the course of the debute on the question of the appointmont of Sir A. 11. Blake to the Governorship of Queensland, Mr VV. H. Smith said the request of the Queensland Government was premature anl imperious in tone. The matter was now receiving the careful attention of the Cabinet, by whom moderation would be exercised in dealing with the question. Hviwky, November 20. Sir H. Parkes has given notlqe to move an address to the Queen, that in future Governors of the colonies should have experience of the conduct of public affairs, either in high political office or in the Imperial Parliament; that it is thought advisable and reasonable that the Government should be informed v/hp is the person selected before he is actually appointed. Adelaide, November 20. The Government has replied to Lord Knutsford, that if, South Australia is conceded the privilege of stating objections to any noininseo to the Governorship the power will bo tj:«vcificd with due appreciation of its importance, and no objections lightly mado.
