A DrscL'SSio.v took place in the Legislative Assembly lust night on a motion affirming the right of the colonies to a, voice in the selection of Governors. After a vigorous debate the resolution was negatived. Mr Gillies, the Premier, disclaimed any intention on his part to ask for a voice in making such appointment, on the ground that such a course would probably occasion complications during any political crisis. He objected to any consideration being shown to Queensland and expressed the opinion that the sooner Victoria showed she had no sympathy for that colony and every faith in the Imperial selection the better. Adelaide, November 16. The Premier cabled to Lord Knutsford on Monday, asking for the name of the new Governor 'before the appointment is definitely made,

Bkisuaxb, November 16. Sir T. Mcllwraith has cabled the followin" objections to Sir H. A. Blake to Lord Kuutsford :-lst, Sir H. A. Blake is not known to be a successful administrator of a responsible Government ; 2nd, the importunes of the colony entitles it to a governor of approved ability and discretion. 3rd. Sir H. Blake s experience of responsible Government has been confined to one year's duty m Newfoundland. 4th. His previous experience disqualified him. sth. The disapproval of a nominee in the colony is spontaneous and general. Oth. This disapproval is ac_ centuated by a recent constitutional crisis.
