KIRIKIRIROA ROAD BOARD.
The usual monthly meeting of the Kirikirirna Riiad Board was held at the Waikato County Council' Chambers, at 2.30 p.m., on Friday. Present: Messrs Primrose (chairman), Maclean, Edmund*, Steele, and Lovell. Finance.— The clerk reported that the Board funds were £28 4 10s in debit. I'uitZK. —The clause in the proposed amended Public Works Act compelling private persona to clear the furze and sweetbriar on their property was discussed, and the Board coincided in the opinion recently expressed by the Waikato County Council that should the proposed act become law, too much power would be placed in the hands of the Local Body. Engineer's Report.—The engineer reported that Mr Littlewood had finished his contract to his satisfaction, and also that he had taken levels for the drain on the Mangawhara Road, and found that a good fall could be obtained. Water. —The chairman stated that all along the whole of the road from Taupiri to Hamilton there was no place where cattle could bo watered, and pointed out that there was an old gravel pit near Hukunui which might be utilized if it were sloped down at both ends so that a waggon might drive right through. The chairman was authorised to spend £110s on this work. Drain.—The engineer was authorised to expend the sum of about £10 on a drain along the Whangamaire Road. Payments.—The following accounts were paßaed for paymentLittiewsod, £28 18s 9d ; Wishart, £5 8a 4d ; Johnson, £7 7s ; Maunder, 13s Id. This concluded the business.
