Cambridge Road Board.

Tub above Board met at Bach's Hotel, Cambridge, on Saturday, .it 2 p.m. Present : Messrs K. Pickering (in the chair), J. Forrest, J. P. Thomson and J. J. Smith. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Road Dkviati».\ at Jin Doikjhkhty's. —The Cleric said ho had not received Mr Dougherty's consent to the proposed alteration, and explained how the matter stood, which our readers will see in the report of the Toatoaroii Road Board. KaocMOUE Gully an-o Hautapu Fkncol'iit Kqad. —The Chairman not being present, Mr Forrest proposed and Mr Pickering seconded "That the consideration of the above matters stand over till next meeting, and that the Secretary write to each member, urging; them to be present." Carried.—Mr Forrest said he did not wish to discuss either of the questions until there was a full meeting of the Board.

Arnold's Corner. —The Clerk said the conveyance had been mado, and the deed duly lodged in the Registry Office, where it appeared such documents had to be deposited, for which a fee of 10s was charged. Mr Dyer had also forwarded his account, which !ia (the Clerk) understood was to be .17 7s, but the account rendered was for £144*.—Mr Thomson said Mr Dyer undertook to do the whole of the work for £7 7s, of which Mr Arnold was to pay the half, and he was prepared with Mr Arnold's share of the amount.—The account was then read, and caused great amusement. It happened to be divided into two main items, consisting of services and disbursements, the former being a trifle over £5 and the latter just over £!). In the disbursements, however, appeared the £7 7s, which the Board had agreed to pay.—Mr Forrest said Mr Dyer had told him that the job did not pay him, and this was merely a try on,—Mr Thomson said Air Dyer had made a similar remark to him, but he thought that as Mr Dyer had plenty of time to ascertain what the cost would bo before undertaking to do the work, that he should be prepared to carry out the contract. -It was eventually decided to pass £S 2s Bd, as two or three charges wore for work done before the contract was made.

No 1. Station Road.— Mr Pickeringstated that unless Mo. 1. Station road was repaired, it would be very much cut up after harvest, as there would be a quantity of grain carted along it to the station. The surface gravel was getting very thin in places, and needed replenishing.—Mr Forrestsaid they would have to be careful how they spent their money, or they wonld be on their beam-ends in another twelve months. Mr Pickering wished to keep the expenditure down, but something would have to be done at tho road near to Mr Selby's corner. —Mr Thompson had lately driven along the road, and thought it was in very good repair.—Mr Smith strongly advocated a portion being gravelled, but nothing was done in the matter.

Road Washing Away.—Mr Forrest stated that the water was gradually washing away a portien of the road near Frogmore gully. He was authorised to get it attended to, at a cost not exceeding fifty shillings. MAUNOAKAWteBKVD. —Mr Forrest said about 10 or 12 clisfins of the Maungakawa road, near Mi , Watt's farm required atten tion. Mr Watt had offered to do the work for £4 10d, but now that he was at the cheese factory, he (Mr Forrest) questioned it it would be practicable f»r him to undertake the work. —Mr Forrest was instructed to get the work done at a cost not exceeding £0. Accounts.—The following accounts were passed for payment:—R. W. Dyer, £8 2s 8d ; T. Pennell, £4 3s 4d ; T. Wattam. £4 17s 2d. Five shillings wan deducted from the lust persons account, as he had done a day's work without being authorised by any of the members present. Fencouht Road. —Mr J. R. S. Richardson waited upon the Board and complained of the state of tho Fencourt road near hia farm. He also offered to repair it at a reasonable price, but was told it would have to be let by tender. This matter was also placed in Mr Forrest's hands. The meeting then closed.
