TENNIS.

The senior and junior handicaps of the Cambridge Lawn Tenuis Club were commenced on Friday, when Mr Lu.sk boat Mr Rutherfurd, in the former ; and in the latter Messrs Maeara and Hardy tied, each having; won fifteen games. Saturday being the opening day of the season, there was a good attendance, and very great interest was taken in the game between the local champion (Mr Cooke) and Mr J. Bull, who received two thirties and fifteen, which it was thought would give him a very good chance of proving victorious. Mr Coolw, however, played up in an astonishing manner, and won by 15 games to Mr Bull's i); but of this number 13 were deuce games, !) of which were won by Mr Gooke. Mr Bull did not appear to play his best, except in the second set, which he won by o—4. The Courts of the Hamilton Lawn Tenuis Club were well attended on Saturday, and some very (too:) games played. There is a marked improvement in the play of the junior members. Tho usual Saturday afternoon's tea was provided by Mesdames Hume mid Sandes. The pavillion is not quite finished, the contractor, Mr Elliott, having yet to finish the seating accommodation, A meeting was held at 4 p.m., and several new members were elected. A tournament, to commence next Saturday for the gentlemen members is being arranged.
