SUNSHINE AFTER RAIN.

Though wo cannot help repining, When misfortunes come in crowds : Yet there is a silver lining To the darkest of the clouds. Time will surely lift the curtain, And relievo us of our pain ; Joy will follow just as certain, As the sunshine follows rain. Each will have his share of sorrow, But the grief will pass away ; And the sun shine bright to-morrow, Though lie hides his face to-day. And this should our troubles lighten, That they will not long roinnin, Jov will come life's path to brighten Like the sunshine after rain. Friends prove false : what bitter feeling Their ingratitude may bring; Fortune frowns : perhaps revealing Other friends who to us cling. Though the first our hearts may sadden That our trust in them was vain : Kindly deeds have come to gladden Like the sunshine after rain. We should bravely face each trial, Though our breasts with grief be torn ; Time moves swiftly o'er the dial; Deepest gloom precedes the dawn, And our burdens will grow lighter When the dawn has come again And our joy will seem the brighter Like the sunshine after rain. Nemo.
