Hamilton C.C.

The annual meeting ol the above club was held last Saturday, Mr F. Hammond in the chair. The following report was read. —Last season was more successful than those of previous years. The Club played nine matches, won five, lost four; of the latter, »ne was lost through not having time to play it out, and another was against a strong Tnakau team. Only once was tho Club beaten in a two inuings match by a Waikato team. The Club made 1034 runs, whilst their opponents made 812. Of batting averages Mr Browning heads the list with an average of 22-6, his highest score being 71 not out. The most successful bowler was Mr Gaudin, who took 37 wickets. The Club is much indebted to Mr Geo. Edgecumbe fur the use of his roller last season. Cricketers had the pleasure of playing on really good wickets. There are two hindrances to cricket on Sydney Square: (1). The paths that intersect the pitch, and (2) the long grass during the spring months. Cricketers in Waikato allow that Hamilton has the best ground, and if it were kept in good order, many more matches would be played on it, such as matches with Auckland and country matches. Last year Taupiri played several of its matches in Hamilton, and when they did so they generally came by steamers, bringing their friends with them, verb sap. A special vote of thahkß was voted to Mr G. Edgecumbe and one to Mr Flood and the members of the negro minstrels for a contribution of £110s, half the net proceeds of an entertainment. Thia money was handed over to Mr R. F. Saudes. The following officers were chosen -President: Mr G. Edgecumbe ; vice-president, Dr. Kenny; secretary, Mr I'\ Gaudin; treasurer, Mr P. Stevens; committee: Messrs Browning, Hammond, Sage, von Sturmer and Peacock.
