A BRIDE ACCIDENTALLY SHOT DEAD.
Mkh David A. Colbert, a bride of two weeks, was shot and killed by her husband in their room at his parents' house at IGo Burling Steet, Chicago, 29th ult. The shooting was accidental, but it was a clear case of carelessness in the use of a revolver. As her husband was dressing, Mrs. Colbert picked up his watch from the pillow and told him jokingly that she meant to keep it. '• So you mean to he a highway robber, do you? Then I'll turn highwayman," he said laughingly as he pulled ilia pistol from his pocket. "Stand and deliver." Mrs Colbert jumped out of bud, an. 1 as she tried to get hold of the pistol Colbert attempted to keep it out of her reach. In some way she managed to strike the weapon with her hand ; an explosion followed, and Colbert, as he saw blood on her night dress, fell in a faint to the floor. As her younger sister came runins into the room Mrs Colbert gasped "Oh, Kitty, look at David," and fell dead. She had been shot in the left breast. Her husband, on recovering consciousness, made two attempts to take his own life, once with the revolver and again with a carving knife. He was disarmed by the family and held until the police arrived and carried him off to the station-ho'ise for safe keeping. Colbert is twenty one years old, and a clerk for Charles Germain, a Boird of Trade man. His wife was a very pretty girl, and but 17 years of age. They returned from their wedding trip just a week ago.
