AuflKli.YSn, Wednesday, At the Supreme Court Judge Gillies gave judgment in favour of the North New Zealand W-,ollen Company against A. 1). Bennett, late secretary, for 4i;i7O. Tho Charitable Aid Jioird to-day applied to the Resident Magistrate to obtain an order to sell the property owned by two old people named George and Elizabeth Day, who have been receiving charitable relief. The owners protested against the property being sold, stating that they would not have accepted relief if they had believed the property would be taken from them. The magistrate stated that while the law set its face against granting relief while persons held property, us this case was the Hist one of this kind, he hesitated to niake an order, considering that notice should have been given. Finally, ho reserved his decision till Saturday. Efforts are being made to get an Auck-. land rifle team to compete at the international matches in Melbourne. The fishing boat Put bun has been raised from where she was sunk, Some tislies were found on board, but no trace of the three men who composed the crew. Spurious half-crowns and florins are circulating here.
