NEW ZEALAND MINING EXHIBITS. (by elkctaic tblkc,k\ph.—copyright). Mkmiouknr, Septeinbor 7. A mineral collection has been received for despatch to the New Zealand Court at the Melbourne Exhibition. Thames auriferous and argentiferous quartz, ten tons ; and one box of very rich specimens. Reefton auriferous quartz, 35 cwt. Wakatipu ditto, 2.) owt. Naseby ditto., HO cwt. St. Albans auriferous washdirt, 2 tons. Greymouth auriferous sand, 30 cwt. Westport-Mohi-kinui coal, 2 tons. Wellington. Friday. Mr Callis, Secretary tn the New Zealand Commission at Melbourne, writes, that every effort was made to get mining exhibits, circulars being sent out all round, and every information afforded, but nothing but obstruction was met with. Mr Tulhurst, acting executive commissioner here, writes to the Premier, claiming that the fault, if any, is mainly due to the. apathy and indifference of the public, not to the commissioner. Melhournk, September 7. The local commissioners have received information from Melbourne that a special show of grain and agricultural products will be held in connection with the Melbourne Exhibition on !)th and 10th of October, As circulars, etc., have only just cmne to hand, there is not, timo to arrango for the collection and transit of New Zealand exhibits, but a similar show is to be held in January next, and the commissioner has cabled for full particulars, which will be made public as soon as passible.
