In consequence of a difficulty between His Excellency the Governor and his adviser?, in consequence of the former declining to release a prisoner upon the advice tendered by his Ministers, Sir Thos. Molhviaith lias placed his resignation in the hands of His Excellency. His Excellency the Governor has sent for Sir Samuel Griffith, the leader of the Opposition. Sir Thos. Mellwraith has cabled the details of the dispute to the Colonial Office.
Mki.hourne, September 4. At a meeting of New Zialanders, held hero to day, resolutions were passed condemning the representation of the minerals, timbers, and natural products of the colony at the Melbourne Exhibition.
Sydney, September 4. A publican named Keeuahan, living near Tamworth, has been shot dead by his stepson, Arthur Coulton, aged 19. Coulton alleged that Itecnahan seduced his sister. Coulton has been arrested.
September 5. In the Appeal Court, Holt, ex-manager of the Bank of New Zealand here, appealed against the decision of the lower Court handing over his interest in the Rosehill estate to the Bank. The appeal was dismissed.
The Australasian Society for the Advancement of Science has appointed committees of its members to consider the proposed expenditure to explore the Antartic regions, and the seismological phenomena in Australasia.
Admiral Fairfax has left for Fiji in H.M.S. Calliope.
