WAIKATO DISTRICT HOSPITAL AND CHARITABLE AID BOARD.

The monthly meeting of the above Board was held in the Council Chambers, Hamilton, at eleven o'clock yesterday. Present: Messrs Graham (chairman), Primrose, Seddon, McDonald, Brunskill, Hally, Chepniell and Hunter. Mr 1). Richardson architect, was also in attendance.

Advertising.—lt was resolved that the Board do not pay for the insertion of any advertisements unless they are authorised by the Board. Maintenance.—The Secretary was instructed to write to the Government pointing out tho fact that children are maintained at the Cnstloy Institute for £15 a year, whoreas the charge at Government institutions is £19 10s.

MoPhkrson's Case.—The following report of the committee appointed to enquire into this case was read and received :—The committee having carefully investigated the case, find that H. I'. McPhersnn is utterly destituto, and recommend that he Vie boarded out until such time as the "Refuge for the Destitute)" is completed, and that the olfer of Mrs Arthur Mayes to board and attend to him for £1 per week, (which is the most reasonable that can be obtained), ba accepted, your committee are of opinion that the boy Alfred is of sufficient age to support himself, but recommend that the three younger children should, if possible, be placed in S. Stephen's Orphanage, Parnell, or be otherwise provided for. At the same time in makinp the recommendation that the Board take charge of the McPhcrson family, your committee consider that the elder members of the family should be called upon to contribute to tho support of their father.— Signed, Samuel Thos. Rktaining Feus.—Messrs Chepinell and Hally were appointed a committee to enquire into and report at next meeting, on the legality of annual retaining fees to lawyers, which had been disallowed by the Auditor-General.

Cambridge : .Tames Dogherty, 2s lid weekly; Thomas Butler, 2a Gd woeklv ; Mrs Harper, 2s (Jd. Ngaruawahia: Mrs Kilfoyle, widow, 2 children, 5s weekly; James Furrier, infirm, 5s weekly ; Richard McGrane, infirm, 5s weekly ; Mrs Mcßirnie, maintenance, Fitzpatrick's child, 7s per week. _ Rangiriri : —Mrs Gray, widow, 7 children, 8s weekly Raglan: Mrs Paris, infirm, 2s Gd weekly; Himiona, infirm, 2s Gd weekly; Finance : The present state of the Finances is as follows To bank credit balance, £772 17s 8«I ; subsidy due by Government, £200; contributions to be collected by Government, £3 5s 7d ; £1 for £1 subsidy, £3 5s 7d; contributions due by Piako County, £387; by Waipa County, £320 lis; by Raglan County, £G8 IS 2d ; by Cambridge Borough, £3S 14s lOd ;by Hamilton Borough, £GG 7s 4d ; £1 for £1 subsidy, £881 lis 4d ; Hospital fees receivable about £50. Total, £2,792 17s Gd, Accounts to Vie paid as per schedule, £138 -Is srl. Balance, £2,654 13s Id. In accordance with resolution passed by the Board at their last meeting, I had Miss O'Dunnghno removed from the Hospital on the Oth ulto., and boarded out at a cost of 25s per week, and I am pleased to report that she was yesterday taken charge of by her sister, Mrs McSlieffrey, who has paid for her maintenance since leaving the Hospital, and has requested the Board to stay further proceedings pending family arrangements for the settlement of the Hospital account. The accounts for the year ending 31st March, ISSS, have been audited and certified as correct by the Auditor-General, with the exception of a retaining fee of £5 5s to Mr Hay, which has been disallowed as illegal.

Armstrong.—On the recommendation' of Mr McDonald, it was resolved that time be granted to Mr Armstrong to pay his Hospital account.

Natives.—With reference to the sick natives at Whatawhata, the matter was left iu the hands of the chairman.
