Tuesday—(Before Messrs Rutherford and Hutcliintion, J. P.) Obtaining Goons Under False PbeTbkcks.—Tβ Ote Rewi, a native, was charged ou the information of Constables Jones with having obtained goods under false pretences from Mrs Corboy at Kihikihi to the value uf £1 fo 10J, by means of an order purporting tn be signed by Te Puke. Prisoner pleaded guilty. Mrs Corb')y gave evidence proving the offence. Tβ Puke deposed that ho had never signed such order. Lauckny.— The sanio prisoner was charged with stealing a suit of clothes and a pair of bunts, value £4, from Mr W. F. •Uixmi. Prisoner pleaded guilty. After hearing evidence, the Bench sentenced prisoner to six months' hard labour for each otfHiicß, sentences to be cumulative, .i Constable Jones went to an infinite amount of trouble in arresting prisoner, recovering most of the stolen property, and securing evidence. Un had many cold, dreary rides to do so, and has dime good service in securing a conviction against a noted thief, fur prisoner has been in gaol more than once for theft.
