THE PROPERTY-TAX. 1 Contrary to expectation, the second reading of the Property-tax Bill was agreed to | this afternoon without a single word of discussion. Sir George Grey entered the House just as the motion was carried, but he made no protest against the Bill being hurried in that manner. Directly the Bill got into committee, however, Sir G. Grey made his annual speech against the Pro-perty-tax, and advocated a land and income tax as preferable.
