Ohaupo v. Te Awamutu.

The return match between the above teams took place at Te Awamutu on Saturday last, and resulted in a win for the home team by two points to nil. The following are the names of the players, viz. :—Marshall, Craigie, T. Senimens, Kusabs (2). Walsh, Reid, Norrish, Holman, Richdale, Goble, Cowley (2), Aitken and Aylward. Te Awamutu: McFarlane, Blackett, Corboy, Graham, Quinn, Gifford, Bayliss, Hunter, Hume, M. Cowley, Cunningham, Holden, Garmonsway, Sibley and Brown. Messrs F. Semmens and Christie umpired for Ohaupo and Te Awamutu respectively, and Mr Grierson acted as referee, and gave entire satisfaction to all concerned. The weather was good with the exception of a (strong wind blowing right across the field, which made kicking lather difficult. Graham won the toss and elected to kick against the wind. Holman kicked off for Ohaupo, and Corboy returned, and soon after a scrum was formed in the centre of the field, in which Te Awamutu had the best, Brawn showing up very strong and shoving all before him. Play now shifted to Ohanpo's 25, and was kept here for a considerable time. A. Kusabs tried to re lieve his side by several splendid runs, but was always collared, About the middle of spell Graham got a dribble on, and being well backed up by Hunter, Bayliss, Hume, and one or two others, went right through with the ball, and Graham, falling on it, scored first blood for Te Awamutu. Quinn took the kick at goal, but, owing to a strong wind, failed to increase the score. From the kickout the ball went to Ohaupo's 25, and was kept there for some time, till A. Kusabs, by splendid play, brought the ball towards the ceutre. Play was now kept about the centre of tho field till time was called, and the first spell ended without further score. Blackett opened the second speli by kinking off for Te Awamutu, and the forwards, following up fast, spoiled C. Kusab's return, and the ball was kept in Ohaupo's 25 until Semmens, getting possession of it, attempted to run, and on being collared passed the ball to Graham, who crossed the line, and secured the second try for Te Awamutu. Corboy was entrusted with the kick, but the wind spoilt what promised to be a neat goal. The ball, after this, was kept continually in Ohaupo's 25, they being dangerous only once, and the game ended in a decided victory for the home team by two points to nil. For the visitors, A. Kusabs, Cragie, Marshall, Walsh, Reid, Holman, and Cowley (2) played well, and for Te Awamutu, Graham, Hunter, Quinn, McFarlane, Brown, Corboy and Bayliss did good work. The game all through was free from bad languago and wrangling, which speaks volumes for both teams, and the large number of people who witnessed the game thoroughly enjoyed it.
