DISTRESSING ACCIDENT.
A painful accident happened on Sunday evening last, whereby a son of Mr Casey, of Waiorongornai, was severely burnt. It appears that Mrs Casey loft her homo at dusk for a few minutes, to procure sorao milk from a neighboar, leaving in the house two little children, agerl respectively, 2 and 4 years. During her absence, while playing near the fireplace, the younger one's clothes caught fire, and when the mother returned, she found the little one with everything burnt off him, but his waistband. Dr Cooper was at once sent for, and kind neighbours did all they could to relieve the little sufferer. The burns are very severe, especially about the lower parts, fortunately the boy is strong, and it is to be hoped that if the shock to the system has not been too great, that he will pull through. Later. The little sufferer succumbed to his injuries this following morning. Much sympathy is felt for the parents, and the poor mother is heartbroken.
