THE PAKURANGA HOUNDS.
The drag hunt was held yesterday at Gwynnelands and proved a grand finish to the hunting season. Upwards (if a hundred people attended ; most of whom were cm horseback, the remainder being in buggies. The drag wes laid over many very stiff fences, but comparatively few spills occurred. The only ladies who went over the whole course were Mrs D. McNicol and Miss Walker, who both wont straight and well from start to finish, without a single fault. A number of gentlemen completed the distance successfully, only two coining to grass. The Hunt Club Rices promise to be a great success, as we learn that nearly every horse will go to the post, and as the riders will all be gentlemen the horses will doubtless run on their merits, and we say may the best one win. This morning the veteran huntsman, Tom Brown, takes his departure with the hounds, so as to be in time for a drag hunt at Otahuhn on Saturday.
