Warden's Court.—On Tuesday the follow ing special claims were granted. Champion Lode extended. Tui, applicant, C. A Conies ; May Bell, Tin, applicant, TtA. ward Cameron ; ;Montezuma, Te Aroha, applicants, Tonge, and tfaes. The Warden stated that in granting special claims, he would grant the areas applied for, but they would be under the same rent and regulations in reference to working as licensed holdings. Silver City, Waiorongoniai, applicant, John Goklswuvthy withdrawn. Applications by H. H. Adams and others, the Tower; Max Frcidlander, the Bismaick, at Waiorongoniai; Chas. Gallagher Bonanza, Te Aroha; and William Bailey Lancashire and Yorkshire, Tui, were adjourned until the next sitting of the Court Further protection was granted for special Claim No. 2, also machine site and water race Waiorongoniai. Licensed holdings were granted to J. Johnson and P. Camnel, Starlit Dell; and Geo. Liusey Mount Morgan, Te Aroha ; Thornton Walker, Hero, Tui, was apjourned till the next sittingof tho Court. J. W. Chambers, machine site fivo acres at Imahu Cre.sk, Te Aroha, was also adjourned until the next sitting of the Court. Poisoning.—A very narrow escape from fatal results occurred at Waiorongomai on Monday last. A little boy named Joy, had a done of carbolic acid administered to him in mistake for ipecacuanha wine. Tho error was immediately discovered, and emetics administered, and a messenger dispatched for Dr. Cooper, who attended with all possible haste. We learn that though the child is much better, he is not ■ considered quite out of danger yet.

Thk Borough Question.—As the advisability of adopting the Municipal form of self-government "for this district, is said to depend upon what liability we should have to assume from the county, a case has bean submitted for legal advice, and it is intended to publish the reply whether for or against. Amuskmknts.—The Mount Aroha Trou badours are to appear in the Public Hall, on the 3rd August. The proceeds are in aid of tho Public Library. A ball will take place in the Hall on tho 15th August, to provide funds for the brass band t> enable them to send for music. A bumper house is expected on both occasions.
