VOLUNTEER INTELLIGENCE.
Hamilton Light Infantry. At the usual fortnightly parade of the above corps on Tuesday last there was a splendid muster, between SO and GO of all ranks being present, under Captain Reid and Lieut. Edgecumbet. After drill, Mr Thos. Kirk was proposed and seconded for the office of lieutenant, and was unanimously elected to that post, the announcement of the result being received with applause. The company have been fortunate in procuring a gentleman so well suited to the position of officer as Mr Kirk, he having, at one time, held the rank of musketry instructor in the Armed Constabulary. Ten new members were elected before the company was dismissed. It is gratifying to find so many recruits joining, and it is a good omen for the future of the corps. This being the first month of the present quarter, all those desirous of enrolling must signify the same before the 31st instant.
